Our Team of Experts

Jackie Quan

Jackie Quan, is owner of JQ Consulting LLC. JQ Consulting LLC is dedicated in fostering higher performing teams. The company aims are to reduce workplace stress, enhance resilience, and cultivate happiness through knowledge-sharing as well as through science-backed stress reduction and happiness techniques.

  • Jackie Quan has been in the biotech / pharmaceutical industry for nearly 25 years.  Her career has spanned multiple roles with the bulk of her career in complex, multi-organization cancer clinical alliances research and development (R&D) program and project management.

    Jackie is a published author and speaker in happiness and mindfulness. Her areas of expertise are:

    Teaming: enhancing team performance, creating environments of psychological safety.

    Stress reduction, resilience and happiness in the workplace for high-performing teams.

    Jackie has an undergraduate degree in biology from Austin College and has over 450 hours of certifications in leadership, strategy, mindfulness, happiness and medical neuroscience. She has a certificate of specialization in Leadership and Management from Harvard Business School, certificates in Happiness at Work & the Science of Happiness from UC Berkeley, 2 Mindfulness certificates and a certificate in Medical Neuroscience from Duke University.

    During her free time, Jackie likes to read, learn about happiness work culture, the science of happiness, mindfulness and neuroscience, spend time with family, find any excuse to gather with family to celebrate anything, and volunteer expertise on well-being endeavors.

Mike Coplen is the Founder and president of TrueSafety Evaluation, a company that combines the latest research on mindfulness, emotional intelligence, and positive psychology with collective employee wisdom to improve individual and organizational performance.

Michael Coplen

  • Mike began practicing, researching, and teaching mindfulness several years ago after more than 20 years of performing human factors research and developing safety policy in senior positions at the Department of Transportation, including Division Chief, Safety Policy and Promotion at FTA during PTASP design and rollout.

    He is a well-published author and speaker on behavior-based safety, safety culture change, fatigue, and program evaluation, with dozens of publications and government technical reports. He has extensive experience in the preparation and delivery of complex technical briefings, reports, and presentations to senior leaders in government, industry, academia, and the public.

    His accomplishments have been twice recognized by the American Evaluation Association, with the 2009 Gunnar Myrdal Government Award and the 2012 Outstanding Evaluation Award, in addition to multiple other transportation, safety, and evaluation-based accolades. Michael is a certified Mindfulness Meditation Teacher from Dharma Moon and the Tibet House and holds certifications as a Mindfulness Workplace Facilitator from The Mindful Leader and a RYS Yoga Teacher from LifePower Yoga.

    Michael has a Master’s Degree in Management and Organization Behavior from the University of Nebraska and 2 years post master’s in I/O Psychology from the University of Connecticut.

    During his free time, Michael enjoys playing golf, dabbles in real estate, and volunteers to teach mindfulness online and in person in his local community in Southport, NC. 

Michael Harnar

Michael Harnar, Ph.D., presently holds the position of Assistant Professor of Evaluation at Western Michigan University, Director of Interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Evaluation Program, and Co-Executive Editor of the Journal of Multi-Disciplinary Evaluation.

  • As an educator, Michael has taught more than 30 graduate courses to over 200 students at 4 institutions, most either new courses or redesigned to maintain current content and pedagogy/andragogy. Michael’s areas of expertise are evaluation methodology, change facilitation, communication, project management, and program administration.

    Michael has been awarded multiple distinctions throughout his career, including Western Michigan University’s Excellence in Discovery Award for Largest New Multiple Year Award 2018-2019, American Evaluation Association’s 2011 Outstanding Evaluation Award for the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Changing At-Risk Behavior Evaluation, with J. Ranney, M. Zuschlag, and M. Coplen, Navy Chief of Information’s Merit Award (1991 & 1992) 1st Place News Broadcast Production for NavEur Magazine, and multiple military designations.

    During his free time, Michael raises three daughters, watches tennis, and actively contributes to the livelihood of the Western Michigan University student experience.

Ann Berger

Ann Berger, MD, MSN is an expert scientific advisor specializing in human well-being, wellness, pain, palliative care, and research. Dr. Berger is internationally recognized for her substantial contributions to patient care, education and research. Dr. Berger is passionate about improving human well-being and strengthening the human connection through empathy and compassion.

  • With a wealth of experience spanning over three decades in the field of pain and palliative care, integrative modalities, spirituality and healing, Dr. Berger is internationally recognized for her substantial contributions to patient care, education and research.

    Dr. Berger has an undergraduate degree in nursing from New York University, a master’s degree in nursing from University of Pennsylvania, and a medical degree from Medical College of Ohio. Dr. Berger is trained in internal medicine, oncology and hospice and palliative care.

    Dr. Berger served for 24 years in the role of Chief of Pain and Palliative care and intramural advisor for the wellness program at National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical Center.

    Dr. Berger’s research involved developing a tool to measure psychosocial spiritual healing called the NIH HEALS which is used nationally and internationally.

    Dr. Berger has also researched the use of nature and mindfulness to enhance well-being in different populations such as health care providers and teachers.

    Dr. Berger has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, participated in editorial boards of scientific journals, and served as editor for over 20 textbooks related to palliative care and cultures, religions, spirituality and psychosocial spiritual healing. She has served as an NIH advisor for several scientific interest groups including spirituality, religion, health, resilience, and psychedelics. Dr. Berger has lectured extensively nationally and internationally.

    Her noteworthy accomplishments in the realm of pain and palliative care have garnered acclaim, earning her multiple awards. Dr. Berger has also received several awards for her work in well-being and wellness. Most recently, she received the 2021 and 2022 National Institutes of Health (NIH) Director’s Award for her NIH staff-wide work as Co-Chair of the Wellness and Mental Health Committee; 2020 Director’s Clinical Center Award for Wellness Committee work with NIH staff; University of Toledo Medical School Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2019; Director’s Award in 2019 for her NIH Hospice work; 2018 Director’s Clinical Center Award for her work in Health Hospice to name just a few.

    During her free time, Dr. Berger likes to spend time with her husband of 40 years, grown children and her mini aussiedoodle. She also enjoys time with friends and travel.
